It is now possible to obtain a visa on arrival at Bujumbura international airport:

• Short stay visa valid for 30 days, multiple entries: $90
The passport must have a minimum validity of 6 months.
It remains possible to obtain a visa in advance at the consular or diplomatic post in the country of residence or origin before leaving for Burundi.
Driving license
Your country's driving license is valid.
Payment methods
Credit cards are almost never accepted, including in most hotels. There is a very limited possibility of withdrawing money with VISA in certain banks in Bujumbura. Money transfer (Western Union) and exchange are possible in Bujumbura and in large urban centers. If your card is lost or stolen abroad or if you suspect fraud, contact the local police immediately.
Travel insurance
You are asked to check whether the insurance provided by your mutual insurance sufficiently covers the risks linked to your destination and method of travel. Please note that this insurance expires after a stay of more than 3 months. Appropriate travel insurance with comprehensive risk coverage is absolutely essential (legal assistance, medical care and repatriation, etc.).
GSM and communication facilities
The phone works well and is moderately priced in the city. It is possible to purchase GSM cards. There is coverage in urban centers, but not always in the hills. For internet access, a few cybercafés exist in large urban centers. WIFI is available free of charge in several hotels and restaurants in Bujumbura.
